Clark Wiz for macOS

Clark Wiz is a macOS app that records meetings, transcribes them, summarises them, and files the result in your own Google Drive. This policy describes exactly what it does with your data. It is written in plain language and describes the software as it is built, not as an aspiration.
Your audio is transcribed on your own Mac by default and never uploaded for transcription. The summary is different: by default it is written by a cloud provider, using your own API key, which means your transcript is sent to that provider. You can change either stage in Settings, and you can switch the summary off entirely.
Nothing is ever sent to us. We do not operate a server that receives your data, and there is no analytics or telemetry of any kind in the app.
Audio. It records meeting audio on your Mac in order to transcribe it.
Transcripts and summaries. Produced from that audio.
Calendar events. It reads events from your Google Calendar to identify the meeting in progress and name the note accordingly. This includes event titles, times and attendees.
Transcription, on your Mac by default. It uses Whisper, running locally, so your audio is not uploaded in order to be transcribed.
The summary, in the cloud by default. It is written by Claude, which means your transcript is sent to Anthropic under your own API key. This is the default because the local summary model needs about 5 GB of memory and froze a Mac that didn't have it. A local summary model is still offered in Settings, and choosing it means nothing leaves your Mac at any stage.
Or neither. Settings also controls how far a recording goes: you can have Clark file the audio and stop, or transcribe without summarising. A stage that doesn't run sends nothing anywhere.
In the cloud, only if you choose it. In Settings you may pick a cloud engine for transcription, for the summary, or for both. The app ships with several to choose from and the list grows; whichever you select is named there. If you do select one, the relevant content is sent to that provider for processing, under your own API key, which you supply and which is stored in the macOS Keychain. Their handling of that content is governed by their own terms with you. We never see it, and we do not supply or proxy those keys.

The app requests no other Google permissions. It does not access your email.
On your Mac, under ~/Library/Application Support/Clark Wiz/: your settings, your
Google sign-in tokens, downloaded models, and working files. Removing that folder removes
that data.
In your Google Drive, in the app's own folder: the notes it creates, the audio it
files, and — in a 06_Settings subfolder — your preferences and your vocabulary list, so
a new Mac can pick up where the old one left off. These are in your account, not ours.
Your API keys are never copied there: they stay in the macOS Keychain.
Audio is deleted on a schedule you choose. By default, audio files in the app's Drive folder older than 30 days are moved to your Drive trash. You can change that to 15, 60 or 90 days, or turn it off entirely, in Settings. Notes and transcripts are never deleted automatically, because the note is the point; the audio is the raw material.
We do not collect analytics, usage statistics or crash reports. There is no tracking library in the app. We do not have a server that receives your recordings, transcripts, notes or calendar data, so there is nothing of yours for us to store, sell or lose.
Clark Wiz checks wiz.wallach.cl for a newer version. That request tells our web server
what any web request tells any web server: your IP address, the time, and that a copy of
Clark Wiz asked for the update file. It carries no account information and no content.
Standard web server logs are kept for operational purposes.
To revoke the app's access to your Google account, use Google's own permissions page at
myaccount.google.com/permissions. To remove local data, delete
~/Library/Application Support/Clark Wiz/. To remove notes and audio, delete them from
your Drive as you would any other file.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
